Your Anchor in a Storm
Well, God is there even when we can't see Him.
On dreary, gloomy, rainy days, high over the overcast sky, the sun continues to shine. The can not feel its warmth or see its beauty, but it still exists.
Just as dreary, gloomy, overcast skies are temporary, so are our difficulties.
Occasionally, things are slightly more intense than merely a lttle rain. Many times, there are tremendous thunderstorms that can come into our lives. But again, these shall pass as well.
God uses these storms to make great fruit in us. The bible says the should rejoice and "Count it all joy when we fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of our faith produces patience in order that people might be produced perfect, whole, and lacking nothing" (James 1:2-4).
Stories have been told about the only thing which saved the lives of people aboard a ship in a storm proved to be a powerful anchor. But, there are also stories of people who seo pressor plugin their anchor failed to hold.
Luke and the Apostle Paul were aboard a boat that was tossed by a raging storm.
It is written, "The Lord is great, a powerful hold in the day of trouble; and Luke understands them who trust Him" (Nahum 1:7).
God is a solid anchor! Those who perished when their anchor didn't hold seemingly had weak anchors. What, or who, are you really depending on to hold you in your storm? Is it some person? Can it be cash? Or, is it God?
God should be your anchor because redemption can be found in no other. Jesus said, "I do not pray that you just take them out from the entire world, but that You keep them from evil" (John 17:15). That is a guarantee that God will be our anchor in the storm and he is going to keep us in His care, however only if we let Him.
A refrain in Ray Boltz' song entitled, "The Anchor Holds," goes like this:
Though affilorama been battered
The anchor holds
Though the sails are torn
I have fallen on my knees
As I face life's raging seas
The anchor holds
Regardless of the storm
What a great message for those in the middle of a thunderstorm in their life!
In times of fair weather we have ease of understanding our anchorman is there. But, in a storm, our faith will undoubtedly be examined and then we will be challenged to think our anchor is still there.
Be encouraged if things are really not that which you would like them to be. God has a great plan for your lifetime and He may be simply using a storm to work on the inside of you right now. Request Him to hold you up, strengthen you, and enable you to learn what he's trying to teach you. God is loyal and "Blessed is He who lasts" (James 1:12).
God clearly wants us to trust Him. So sometimes, to remember the effectiveness of our anchor, we must feel the potency of the
