Local Meat Processor Wins National Honor for the Second Time!
Robert Winner Sons Inc. or better known as Winner's Meats an area processor located in both Osgood and Greenville Ohio, has won national recognition this past month at the National Cured Meat Championships which was held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This was the 68th annual convention held by the American Association of Meat Processors.
Robert Winner Sons Inc. was awarded "CHAMPION" in the Large Diameter Luncheon Meat Class with their Blue Ribbon Bologna. All entries were judged on the basis of aroma, flavor, eye appeal, color and texture. The panel of judges for this year's event included Professors, Technical Advisers, and Directors of Science and Technology from an assortment of Universities from all over the country, along with several management officials from large meat packing companies.
The American Cured Meat Championship is held yearly at this three day convention which draws hundreds of entries from meat processors from the entire United States. This year alone there were 746 entries in 26 different categories. It is remarkable that Winner's Meats won this same national award in 2004 with their Bologna at this event held in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
